The road

The east–west highway past Gori and Khashuri, over the Rikoti pass and down through Imereti, then along the coast from Kobuleti to Batumi. Most of it is dual carriageway now.

Worth stopping

  • Uplistsikhe cave town near Gori (+1 h, entry fee extra) or a khachapuri stop in Imereti.

Good to know

  • The train Tbilisi–Batumi takes about 5.5 hours too, but you first need to get from the airport to Tbilisi station and buy tickets in advance in summer.
  • If you land at night we can drive straight through (night supplement $20) or pick you up from a Tbilisi hotel next morning for the city price of the Tbilisi–Batumi route.

Included

  • Private car and driver, fuel, parking
  • Driver speaks English or Russian (tell us which)
  • Meet & greet with a name sign at airports, 60 min free waiting after landing
  • Free stops on the way for photos, coffee or a monastery (up to 1 h in total)
  • Child seat free on request
  • Free cancellation up to 24 h; pay the driver — no prepayment for transfers
