The road
Day 1 Tbilisi → Mtskheta → Ananuri → Kazbegi. Day 2 Gergeti church, Truso or Juta valley walk, night in Kazbegi. Day 3 Kazbegi → Gori/Uplistsikhe → Kutaisi. Day 4 Prometheus cave and Martvili canyon, night in Kutaisi. Day 5 Kutaisi → Enguri dam → Mestia. Day 6 Ushguli by 4x4 (included). Day 7 Mestia → Zugdidi → Batumi. Day 8 Batumi: Makhuntseti waterfall or Gonio fortress, drop at Batumi airport or hotel.
Worth stopping
- 7-day version: skip the Kutaisi rest day (−$150 sedan).
- 10-day version: add Kakheti (Sighnaghi + wineries) and Borjomi/Vardzia (+$300 sedan).
- Start in Kutaisi airport instead of Tbilisi: same price, the order changes.
Good to know
- Best season: June to early October. From December to April the Jvari pass and the Ushguli road can be closed; we adapt the route (more Kakheti and the coast).
- Deposit 30% to confirm; the rest to the driver in cash (GEL, USD or EUR).
- Hotels, entry tickets, meals and guides are not included; a licensed guide is $80 per day extra.
