Guguti–Gogavan and Akhkerpi: the minor Georgia–Armenia crossings

Besides Sadakhlo and Bavra, Georgia lists two more road checkpoints towards Armenia in Kvemo Kartli: Guguti (Dmanisi municipality), opposite Gogavan in Armenia's Lori province, and Akhkerpi near Sadakhlo. As of 27 October 2026 Guguti is on the Revenue Service 24-hour list and is used by drivers heading for Vanadzor and Stepanavan; there is no through public transport. For Yerevan we normally use Sadakhlo (about 5.5 hours from Tbilisi, $285 per sedan) and keep Guguti as a same-price backup if Sadakhlo is jammed. Checked by the RideGE team on .

Is Guguti–Gogavan open?
Yes, it appears on the Revenue Service list of 24-hour checkpoints reported in 2026, with no through public transport.
Where exactly is the Akhkerpi checkpoint?
The Georgian National Tourism Administration lists Akhkerpi together with Sadakhlo among the land checkpoints of Kvemo Kartli. It is a small post; we do not plan trips through it unless the client asks and the post is confirmed open on the day.

These posts serve mostly cars and trucks and there is no public transport on either side, so plan to cross in a vehicle.
